It is a yearly tradition, that famous Swiss Air Force ' Patrouille Suisse ' is the very first military national team in Europe to be announcing its airshow schedule for the forthcoming season. This is the team's 2010 air display program. Patrouille Suisse has been flying Northrop F-5 E Tiger II jets since 1995. Good news come from last month as Swiss Air Force Headquarters said that the team would probably fly Tigers untill 2020, though the partial renewal program of the Tiger fleet may start soon. Only 54 F-5 E Tiger IIs are still operational in the Swiss Air Force, out of 110 originally procured in two batches : 72 in 1975, and 38 in 1981. Most of these last 54 Tigers are to be replaced with new combat aircraft that may be selected in 2010. On January 15th 2010, Swiss MoD (Departement Fédéral de la Défense) declared that the Northrop Tiger II have reached 350.000 hours of flying in the Air Force. Bon Anniversaire Tiger II !
