Russkie Vitiazi (Russian Knights) and Strizhi (Swifts) national aerobatic teams are back to the airscene in Russia. Since the tragic accident of Col. Igor Valentinovich Tkachenko last August 17th, 2010 : www.sky-lens.com/articles-news.php it was not known when the Russian Knights would display again, and eventually on what type of equipement. RIA Novosti released a video : en.rian.ru/video/20100517/159047988.html showing both Russian Air Force Aerobatic Teams flying alltogether during an airshow in Kubinka Air Force Base last week. Interestingly these very wealthy looking teams flew two groups of four airplanes only, but it still looks as impressive as ever. It remains to be known if the four ships will be their standard configuration, or if we may be lucky enough to watch the Russian Knights and the Strizhi both flying six aircraft each during MAKS 2011. |
